Angel City announced Thompson's signing on Thursday, confirming that the defender has signed through the 2025 season with an option for 2026. Thompson is currently a senior at Harvard-Westlake School in nearby Studio City, CA and, before she decided to turn pro, was committed to Stanford University.
On the international level, Thompson has been a regular for the U.S. youth teams, recently earning a bronze medal at the Pan American Games while representing the U.S. up to the U-20 level despite only recently turning 18.

Thompson, like her older sister, has long been regarded among the best prospects in the American game, with the two becoming the first high school athletes to sign Name, Image and Likeness contracts with Nike. The two played together right up until Alyssa was selected first overall by Angel City, with the duo winning a state regional championship, a United Women's Soccer semi-pro championship and competing with Total Futbol Academy, an MLS Next boys' team.
On the international level, Thompson could very well be with the senior USWNT in the near future, with many seeing her as a player who can start at fullback for the U.S. for a long, long time.
WHAT THOMPSON SAID
“I’m thrilled to be joining Angel City to take this next step in my soccer career,” said Thompson. “It’s such a great organization with an awesome fan base. Being from Los Angeles, I’m really looking forward to trying to bring a championship to my hometown. Having been able to watch Alyssa’s pro transition this past year, I’ve been able to really see what it takes to succeed at that level. I’m confident I can come in and contribute, and am also excited for all the growth and learnings ahead.”
WHAT HUCLES MANGANO SAID
“Gisele is an incredibly exciting player with endless potential,” added Angel City General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “The opportunity to discover and develop talent from our own backyard is really important to us, and Gisele’s success on the field in her youth career speaks for itself. While she will be joining her sister on our squad, Gisele will no doubt make her own impact on our environment and among the team.”
