James was unbeaten on 309 at Glamorgan’s declaration.Elliott, who lost his Australian Cricket Board contract prior to the 1999/2000 domestic season, eventually played on to paceman James Kirtley.The stand erased the previous Glamorgan record opening stand of 330between Alan Jones and Roy Fredericks against Northamptonshire atSwansea in 1972. It was Elliot’s fourth century and James’ third ofthe season. Elliot in the process became the first Glamorgan player tocross 1000 runs this season.
